Why would anyone want to  sponsor this site?

Well, it might provide some competitive advantage or it may just give you a nice warm feeling. Either way you get to have this panel for a pittance.

All we want is to cover costs and they are LOW - Hey! look at the site, it’s not exactly a budget-buster - but it is well targeted.

Sponsors are guaranteed to have no say in how the site is run, no say in content and no power to veto. But you will be able to put whatever you like in this space. So if you want to get your name out there,  recruit clients or personnel or just be supportive, get in touch.

Event Safety Advisor’s Forum
PRESS RELEASE - Dec 2009
What is the collective noun for Safety Advisers? A Risk?... or perhaps an Assurance? There was certainly a pretty big collection of them at a meeting in Bristol on December 1st, when The Event Safety Shop invited safety practitioners from across the UK to discuss common issues and whether a regular meeting
or forum should be set up. The attendees read like a Who’s Who of the industry, spanning large scale events, outdoors, indoors and
festivals. The only criterion was that the invitees had to be selling professional health and safety advisory services. “The meeting was a great success,” explains Tim Roberts, who chaired the first
session. “A lot of us are commercial competitors, but we have a huge amount to gain by discussing safety issues and providing a common voice for our part of the industry to regulators and enforcers.”

Most of the session was spent determining what kind of group the meeting could become. “We were unanimous that we didn’t want to set up as another trade association. There are plenty of players in the field such as the PSA, PLASA, NOEA and TESA, and we want to maintain positive relations with them all rather than aligning ourselves with any particular organisation. The format of the group is yet to be determined – we haven’t even got a name yet ‐ but we hope to meet on a regular basis and develop consistency and standards across the sector.“

The initiative comes at an important time, as the HSE are looking to revitalise the Purple Guide andthere are opportunities to promote good practice and practical enforcement across the UK. If you are a health and safety professional working in the event sector and you weren’t at the meeting, please contact Tim Roberts by email and hopefully you can attend the next meeting scheduled for March 1st in Derby. tim@eventsafetyshop.co.uk
